about

This release is 4 songs that were inspired by what Albert Hoffman might have experienced on his ride home from his lab after ingesting LSD. Each song is based on different experiences he may have had on his journey.

What is Bicycle Day?
Bicycle day is the day Albert Hoffman first ingested a large enough dose of LSD to feel the full effects. Who's Albert Hoffman you ask?

Albert Hoffman was a Swiss scientist that in 1938 was studying Ergot and looking for a compound that could be used for headaches and respiratory issues. The initial tests of the compound showed little results and was eventually shelved. What he had done was synthesize LSD.

Fast forward to 1943, Albert felt compelled to pick up his research on the compound and start experimenting again. On April 19th, 1943 he decided that he was going to be his own test subject and he took roughly a normal dose of LSD. When the LSD kicked in, he felt distortion, anxiety, and wanted to laugh.

At this point, Albert decided to have his assistant help him get home. During the war the use of cars wasn't allowed so he rode his bike. During the ride is when his trip really kicked in. He experienced visuals, anxiety, paranoia and had a fear he was going insane.

When he got home, he had a physician come to check on him. When the physician told Albert that he wasn't in any danger he had a shift. He was now able to let go of the fear, anxiety and paranoia and start to play in his experience with the colors, shapes and imagery that was presented to him when he closed his eyes.

There's been a long history with LSD in the world. Military testing, clinical testing, the massive counter-culture of the 1960s, countless art works and now the psychedelic resurgence the last few years led by MAPS. This compound has not only opened minds and changed culture, but it's also opened people to healing.

What do I mean by that? Researchers have been using LSD for years learning about how it can help with addiction. It's been used to help people connect within themselves and heal from trauma. It's helped people with anxiety and depression.

When I say it helped, I mean that it helped the person do their healing work. The chemicals don't do the healing, you do. The real work is inside. LSD can show you a mirror, a different way of seeing something, it can help you bring down walls to process trauma, or many other paths. When you've taken your trip, and you start to integrate what happened the work continues. Inside.

That work doesn't have to happen alone there are people that are here to help. All you need to do is ask.
